लेखकाने आणखी एक वैयक्तिक प्रसंग कथन केला आहे. एके दिवशी लेखक बसमध्ये चढला. खिशात पैसे नाहीत असे त्याला वाटले. कंडक्टरने त्याचा अपमान केला नाही पण त्याला गृहस्थ ओळखून तिकीट दिले. लेखकाच्या खिशात काही पैसे सापडले आणि भाडे दिले. या कंडक्टरच्या सौजन्याने आणि सभ्यतेने तो खूप प्रभावित झाला होता. काही दिवसांनी त्याच बस कंडक्टरने लेखकाच्या पायाचे बोट ट्रोल केले. त्याला वेदना होत होत्या पण बस कंडक्टरची पद्धत इतकी सुखावणारी होती की तो विसरला. लेखकाने ओळखले की कंडक्टर चांगल्या शिष्टाचाराचा नमुना होता. प्रवाशांना आरामदायी बनवण्याची हातोटी त्यांच्याकडे होती. तो अत्यंत दयाळू आणि विचारशील होता. वृद्ध लोकांबद्दल तो मुलासारखा विचारशील होता आणि मुलांसाठी तो पित्यासारखा काळजीवाहू होता. त्याने चांगल्या स्वभावाचे आणि दयाळूपणाचे वातावरण निर्माण केले. त्यामुळे त्याच्यासोबतचा प्रवास हा नैसर्गिक सौजन्याचा आणि चांगल्या वागणुकीचा धडा होता. त्याने आपले काम सहजतेने आणि इतरांशी सौजन्याने केले.
लेखक म्हणतो की युद्धाचा आपल्या पद्धतीवर वाईट परिणाम झाला आहे. युद्धाने लोकांना असभ्य आणि मूर्ख बनवले आहे. जीवन आनंदी बनवण्यासाठी चांगले आचरण पुनर्संचयित करण्याचा सल्ला तो देतो. वाईट वागणूक देणाऱ्यांना नैतिकतेचा धडा शिकवला पाहिजे. या अनुषंगाने लोकांनी लॉर्ड चेस्टरफिल्डच्या उदाहरणाचे अनुसरण केले पाहिजे. त्या काळात लंडनचे रस्ते फुटपाथ नसलेले होते. एकदा, लॉर्ड चेस्टरफिल्डला मार्गात एक व्यक्ती भेटली ज्याने सांगितले. He created an atmosphere of good nature and kindness. So the journey with him was a lesson in natural courtesy and good manners. He did his job with ease and with courtesy to others.
