जर्मन संघाने अनेक संघांना पराभूत करून अंतिम फेरी गाठली होती. ओल्या मैदानावर भारतीय संघ फारसा आरामदायक नव्हता आणि दुर्दैवाने अंतिम सामन्याच्या आदल्या दिवशी मुसळधार पाऊस पडला होता. ते परदेशात होते आणि स्टेडियम जर्मन लोकांनी भरले होते, त्यांना आनंद देण्यासाठी मोजकेच भारतीय होते.

संघाचे कर्णधार, ध्यानचंद यांनी शांतता राखली आणि त्यांच्या संघासह एक अप्रतिम सामना खेळला, ज्याने आपल्या देशाला विजय मिळवून दिला आणि जर्मनीला त्यांच्या गावी पराभूत केले. आमच्या कर्णधाराने दाखवलेल्या कौशल्याचे जर्मन हुकूमशहानेही कौतुक केले. हिटलरने त्याला विशेष सुवर्णपदक देऊन सन्मानित केले.

The captain of the team, Dhyanchand, kept calm and played an impressive match with his team, which led his country to victory and defeated Germany at home. The German dictator also praised the skill shown by our captain. Hitler honored him with a special gold medal.
